Release tension and stimulate circulation

Gua Sha is a manual technique from traditional Chinese medicine. It involves scraping the skin with a specialized tool (stone, horn, or ceramic) to release tension, stimulate blood flow, and support tissue regeneration.

At Kinatex, Gua Sha may be offered by various trained healthcare professionals who have completed the required course, including in massage therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic.

This method is often combined with therapeutic treatments to relieve chronic pain, muscle stiffness, or sports injuries. It is commonly used for tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, headaches, neck pain, shoulder issues, and more.

Temporary redness or bruising may appear after treatment but is not harmful.

Contraindications

  • Infections, unhealed fractures, phlebitis, fragile skin, pregnancy, recent cortisone injections (3-week delay required).
