Sensory rehabilitation for pain
After an injury, surgery, or trauma, some nerves may not fully recover, leading to symptoms like burning, tingling, electric shocks, or pain from light touch. This is known as neuropathic pain, and it can significantly affect your daily life.
Sensory rehabilitation is a non-invasive method based on the nervous system’s neuroplasticity. It aims to normalize skin sensations, reduce allodynia (pain from light contact), and improve function in those with conditions such as neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), or painful scars.
Your occupational therapist will perform a detailed evaluation, including monofilament sensitivity tests. Based on your symptoms, a personalized treatment plan will include desensitization techniques, home exercises, and pain education strategies.
This service is designed for individuals living with persistent nerve-related pain.
