KinatexOncology rehabilitation program

Oncology rehabilitation program

With advances in both the detection and medical interventions for cancer within the last decades, cancer survivorship has increased.  However, despite such an increase in survival rates, many cancer patients are left to face new challenges following their cancer occurrence.

For many, cancer interventions may cause significant changes to their bodies, leaving them with long-lasting physical, cognitive and emotional difficulties. Impairments commonly experienced may include fatigue, pain, a loss of energy, muscular weakness, decreased appetite, chemo-brain and difficulty walking. Fortunately, the vast majority of these impairments can be managed by a multidisciplinary team specialized in cancer rehabilitation.

Cancer rehabilitation includes a wide range of therapies designed to help people living with cancer optimize their physical, emotional and cognitive well-being both during and following cancer treatment. The goal of cancer rehab is to thus help cancer patients lessen and/or overcome the effects of cancer and its treatments on their daily function and quality of life.

Our Oncology Program

Our Cancer Rehabilitation program was developed, in collaboration with experts in the field of oncology, to provide services to newly diagnosed patients, those undergoing active treatment and those in remission irrespectively of cancer diagnosis. Our program is dedicated to helping cancer patients maintain, regain and/or improve their strength, daily function, autonomy and quality of life.

Our multidisciplinary team of cancer rehabilitation experts – comprised of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, kinesiologists, osteopaths, acupuncturists and nutritionists – are trained to understand the unique aspects and effects of cancer and its treatment on the body and on daily function. They have the expertise to assess and treat you during any stage of your treatment and recovery.

At Kinatex, we understand that each person living with cancer will experience unique challenges throughout their treatments and survivorship. Hence following an initial evaluation performed by a physiotherapist, our team will develop an individualized program to address your daily challenges and help you achieve your personal goals.

Depending on your needs and goals, your rehabilitation team may include a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, massage therapist, kinesiologist, osteopath, acupuncturist and/or nutritionist.
