Kinatex Ste-Rose Orthopedic Laboratory

Kinatex is pleased to welcome its very first orthopedic laboratory within its banner, the Laboratoire orthopédique Kinatex Ste-Rose. It is located at the new Kinatex Sports Physio Sainte-Rose clinic in Laval.

Our experienced orthotists, members in good standing with the Ordre des Technologues professionnels du Québec, are attentive to your needs in order to provide you with the best advice possible. They take the time to collaborate with doctors and therapists.

According to the prescription that was filled out by your doctor, our orthotists will proceed with a thorough biomechanical assessment.  They will then choose the appropriate orthotic among a large range of high-quality products that will meet all of your needs. We care about providing functional, efficient, and comfortable orthopedic devices.

Plantar Orthotics

Plantar orthotics are prefabricated or custom-made insoles that fit into the shoe to provide comfort and support by promoting an optimal posture from the feet.

The plantar orthotics are called «custom-made» because they are made from a mold of your feet.  From there, they are assembled with different layers of high-tech thermoformed materials chosen for your condition and your comfort.

They are often recommended for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, patellofemoral syndrome, hallux valgus, periostitis, back pain and tendonitis of the posterior tibial tendon.

Knee Orthoses

Knee orthosis and braces provide stability to the knee joint which is solicited on a daily basis.  In this way, these orthopedic apparatus provide the necessary confidence and mobility in your movements enabling you to continue or return eventually to your normal activities.

Pre-operative or immobilization orthoses:

The pre-operative or immobilization orthosis is a great apparatus used following a surgery or a trauma to stabilize, and at the same time limits the movement in the knee giving it time for the tissues to heal.  Certain models are adjustable in order to allow an adaptation to the range depending on the progress of the knee and on the protocols to be followed.

Stabilization orthoses :

The stabilization orthosis is a functional orthopedic apparatus.  It is made to stabilize the knee when there has been a ligament injury and allows fluid motion of the joint.

They are recommended for sprains and/or tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), the medial collateral ligament (MCL), the lateral collateral ligament (LCL), and/or the menisci.

Unloading orthoses:

The unloading orthosis is used in cases of arthrosis at the level of the knee (osteoarthritis).  Its design unloads regions of the knee where the cartilage is used up by decreasing the pressure and therefore causing less pain.

This type of orthoses is a great option to prevent further deterioration of the cartilage or to postpone knee surgery (total knee replacement).

Toe Orthoses

Toe orthoses are molded directly from toes with a silicone paste and prevent or slow down the deformity of the toes.  Because they are personalized, they are more comfortable and effective for daily use.

They are especially recommended for advanced cases of hammer toes, claw toes, hallux valgus or painful calluses.

Upper Limb Orthoses

Orthoses or splints for the fingers, wrist, elbow and shoulder help support and provide stability to the joint following an injury, a trauma or a pathology. They relieve pain during the day and night and let you return to your activities. They can be custom-made or prefabricated depending on the need.

They can be used for conditions such as:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • De Quervain’s tendinitis
  • Epicondylitis
  • Trigger finger
  • Shoulder subluxation
  • ….

Lower Limb Orthoses

Orthoses or splints for the ankle, knee, and hip help support and provide joint stability following injury, trauma, or pathology. They can help relieve pain during the day and night and let you return to your activities.

They can be used for conditions such as:

  • Ankle sprains
  • Tibialis posterior tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tibial fracture
  • Patello-femoral syndrome
  • Patellar tendinitis

Neck and Back Orthoses

Back belts and cervical collars provide adequate support and comfort to reduce pain and allow you to continue your daily activities.

They are used in cases of sprains, herniated discs, spinal instability and fractures.

Compression Stockings

Compression stockings are woven in a manner that helps blood circulation. There are different styles such as knee length, thigh length, and pantyhose. They are even very trendy with its range of colors, patterns and fabrics.

They are strongly recommended for people who travel or remain in a static standing position for long periods of time. They are also recommended for cases of varicose veins, heavy legs and swelling.

Compression Clothing for Lymphedema

Lymphedema is a very common chronic disease that results from swelling caused by an abnormal buildup of fluid comprised of white blood cells, nutrients, and antibodies. A person with lymphedema may have one or more affected limbs and often experience pain, stiffness, loss of mobility and tightening of the skin. It is common in people who have had surgery or radiation therapy.

Having no effective treatment yet, complete decongestive therapy remains a great alternative to manage symptoms. It consists of stabilizing the swelling with the help of lymphatic drainage by guiding the lymph to the healthy nodes. It is often recommended to wear bandages to maintain the work done by the drainage and once stabilized, lymphedema garment should be worn. For several years, the Régie de l’Assurance Maladie du Québec (RAMQ) has been funding part of the costs to help people who live with this condition for a good part of their lives. Your orthotists can guide you once your doctor prescribes the items you need.

For several years, Kinatex has been a proud partner of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and the Quebec Lymphedema Association (AQL). Therefore, this new service will make it easier to take care of people with this condition.
