Physiotherapy

Service

Physiotherapy is the widely accepted allied health profession for the treatment of a wide range of health problems. Physiotherapy is recommended for the treatment of injuries involving muscles, joints, bones and other soft tissue injuries. It is also used in cases of circulatory, respiratory and neurological conditions, illness and disease. Physiotherapy is also highly recommended for victims of work related and motor vehicle accidents.

The role of Physiotherapy in your lifestyle is to provide information on the prevention and functional improvement of your body’s physical performance through prevention, pain management and treatment from physical limitations and injury meanwhile promoting fitness, health and wellness. The heart of the physiotherapy profession is the understanding of how and why movement and function take place.

A physiotherapist performs these tasks using hands-on Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Manual Therapy), exercise therapy and mechanical techniques in partnership with you, your doctor or other allied health professionals involved in the treatment. They assess, treat and educate patients from babies to the elderly. They develop an individualized plan for your recovery based on evidence and scientifically tested techniques to help treat the condition, ailment or injury that is limiting your ability to participate in sport, perform your job or limits your daily tasks.

A treatment of physiotherapy involves a thorough assessment including a medical history questionnaire, and evaluation of your pain, your ability to move the affected area, strength, reflexes, sensation and specific tests. Your Physiotherapist will also examine x-rays, laboratory tests, medical records, doctor’s notes and post surgical recommendations.

Following your evaluation, your physiotherapist will prepare an individualized treatment plan based on the results of the examination. We encourage each client to assume responsibility for their health and participate in the team approach to the care. Research has shown that a patient who gets involved gets better quicker. At Kinatex your treatment in physiotherapy will include Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Manual Therapy) flexibility and strength exercises, improvements in muscle imbalances and weaknesses, balance and coordination training, movement correction, gait retraining and if necessary the use of electrical modalities (TENS, Ultrasound), and more.

At Kinatex, our physiotherapists are all members of the Ordre Professionnel de la Physiothérapie du Québec and are university graduates. They are dedicated to providing client-focused treatment. Physiotherapy is a direct access service and does not require the referral of a physician; however certain health reimbursement plans require a physician’s diagnosis before claims can be accepted.

If you have any questions on physiotherapy, please contact your local Kinatex clinic and ask to speak to a physiotherapist.
