Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists are specially trained to assess, treat and help prevent pelvic floor dysfunctions.
Incontinence, organ prolapsed and pelvic pains are examples of conditions frequently treated in pelvic floor rehabilitation.
Pelvic Floor physiotherapists use therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, biofeedback & neuromuscular stimulation in teaching muscle control, muscle strengthening and muscle release.

PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS CAN HELP YOU WITH:

Urinary symptoms:

  • Urinary incontinence (light or heavy leaking) often with coughing, sneezing or jumping.
  • Frequent and/ or urgent need to urinate
  • Frequent, difficult or incomplete urination

Anorectal Dysfunction:

  • Urgent/ uncontrollable need to defecate
  • Constipation or difficult evacuation

Pain:

  • Perineal, vulvovaginal, anorectal, abdominal, pelvic, coccyx pain
  • Related to sexual activity
  • Discomfort post-abdominal surgery/ post radiation therapy/ postpartum

Pelvic Organ Prolapse:

  • Fallen bladder, uterus, urethra or rectal descent

During pregnancy and postpartum:

  • Pelvic-perineal problems and muscle/ joint dysfunction
  • Techniques to facilitate childbirth
  • Diastasis recti (abdominal diastasis)

Before and after surgery/ medical intervention:

  • Incontinence correction
  • Prolapse correction
  • Hysterectomy
